All to play for in second leg of cup semi-final

The GMB Nottingham Panthers were missing several key bodies but came out of the first leg of their Challenge Cup semi-final at home to Sheffield just down by a single goal in a match that finished 1-2.

Brian McGrattan rounded the keeper to score after 90 seconds and Miika Wiikman kept the visitors at bay until they converted a powerplay just before the half-way stage of the first leg.

The visitors snagged the lead with a breakaway down the left wing in the 53rd minute.

Panthers had started the game without Lawrence, Schultz and Clarke and lost Williams to injury part way through the first period. On the positive side Geoff Waugh returned from injury to join the defence.

The visitors outshot the Panthers but both goalies had solid games and kept the scoreline tight for the second leg in Sheffield on Valentines Day.
