Chris Murray moves on
Defenceman Chris Murray has left the GMB Nottingham Panthers.
He asked to be released from his contract in order to pursue his career in Europe. After lengthy negotiations a deal was drawn up to enable him to move on.
As part of that deal both parties agreed that nothing would be said in public until today (Monday) and the Panthers have been determined to stick to all the clauses in the agreement.
Last week Panthers announced the arrival of Phil Oreskovic “in anticipation of some potential roster changes”.
A club spokeswoman said today :”We are disappointed to lose Chris Murray. He did well for us and for that we are grateful. It brought him to the attention of others and he feels he should now move on. We’d rather it hadn’t happened but in sport and in ice hockey these things do occur. His decision to leave prompted a lot of work resulting in the arrival of Phil. There are few total secrets these days but we're sure people are not going to criticise us for acting with integrity and sticking to the agreement.
“Phil Oreskovic is a great signing for the Panthers and he is a player our coaching staff have been after for a few years. He has a great pedigree with top flight experience in North America including the NHL and is a welcome addition to our blue line corps.”
