Devils gain revenge on Panthers in Wales.

Cardiff Devils jumped to a three goal first period lead and the GMB Nottingham Panthers kept battling but couldn’t find a way to beat the home keeper and after a goalless middle period ended up on the wrong end of a 5-0 shut-out and there was to be no repeat of Panthers huge win on their last visit to Wales.

Miika Wiikman started in nets for Nottingham and wasn’t beaten until the fifteenth minute by a hard low shot from the high slot but the puck was back in the Panthers net just 15 seconds later when former Panthers Matthew Myers turned in.

Moments after killing a penalty off Panthers were three down after a soft rebound was turned in by the Devils.

Henry Pacl took over in goal for Nottingham from the start of the second period. Panthers were a lot more lively in the middle period and the shot count had a much more balanced look about it but the score remained 3-0 going into the final period.

Nottingham worked hard to get back into the game but a fluffed play beyond the Panthers goal-line led to a feed out front for the Devils and they added to their score in the 46th minute and after a spell of visitors’ pressure Devils got in one on one with the keeper and although the first big shot was denied the rebound looped up and fell kindly for them to round the stranded Pacl to add a fifth.
