GMB Panthers start with a win in Denmark

The GMB Panthers took a tentative step towards the Continental Cup final when they dug deep to hold off hosts Odense to record a 4-5 victory in their opening game in Round Three.

Brian McGrattan jammed home his own rebound to open the scoring but the Bulldogs were quickly on level terms.

Then Logan McMillan made a great move behind the net to feed Brad Moran on the short side and Panthers were in front at the first break.

In the middle period Robert Lachowicz floated a tricky one on net and Matt Carter turned in.

Then Andy Sertich fired from point and Petr Kalus stretched to tip home.

Bulldogs tipped home a floater of their own and it was 2-4 after two periods.

Mika Wiikman had made some great saves but he left the action when he was run over early in the third. Henry Pacl took over in nets.

When Robert Farmer hustled down the left wing to feed McGrattan in front he nailed his second and Panthers were up by three goals for a second time.

Odense then punished a give away and with their keeper pulled for an extra skater they smuggled home a fourth in the last minute for tense but ultimately successful score line for Panthers
