Nottingham Panthers through to grand final

A 3-4 win against French side Angers at the Continental Cup in DenmarI, as well as Odense beating Donbass in the late fixture, means the GMB Panthers are though to the Super Final.

With Miika Wiikman ruled out through injury after he was sent flying in their opening game Henry Pacl was in nets for Nottingham

The French side opened the scoring on a power play in the fourth minute but smart play saw Alex Nikiforuk get the puck to the front and Jeff Brown spun 360 degrees to fire home hard and low with Matt Carter screening the net.

Another power play to Angers had Les Ducs back in front just before the break.

A Kristian Kudroc shot forced a rebound turned in by captain Brad Moran to tie the game at 24.07 and Panthers took the lead for the first time when Kudroc fired home for 2-3 at 35.23.

Jeff Brown nailed the post early in the third, then with a one goal spread Panthers had to kill three minors in a row with some dubious challenges on the short-handed Nottingham side going unpunished.

But they earned a cushion when Robert Farmer drove the left wing and fed the front where Brian McGrattan clinically turned the puck in with less than five minutes to go.

A deflected shot in the last minute gave Ducs some hope but even with their keeper pulled for the last 22 seconds Panthers held firm.
