Panthers stretch streak with a 4-2 win over the Dundee Stars

Dundee had big travel problems for the first half of their journey and the face-off was put back half an hour but there was little sign of bus legs for the visitors as Faryna seized on a mistake to put his own rebound away after just 43 seconds.

Panthers leveled in the sixth minute when Logan MacMillan threw the puck to the side of the net and Brian McGrattan reverse tipped home for his first home goal of the season. Not long afterwards the visitors were back in front when they hustled in Panthers’ zone to feed the back door where Poulin hammered in their second of the night.

But just after Robert Farmer had failed to squeeze home on a smash and grab raid one-on-one Dan Spang kept the play alive and fed Farmer at the back door for another equaliser at 10.15.

Panthers dominated the second period but Fallon in the visiting goal was busy and successful and the match still locked at 2-2 going into a final period which started with a flurry of Panthers shots even before the home side went on to the powerplay after just 48 seconds.

Sixty-two seconds later and a nice tic-tac-toe passing move got the puck to Farmer and he rifled home his second of the game to put Panthers in front for the first time and they stayed there.

There was more pressure from the GMB Panthers and just as the Dundee coach was trying to pull his goalie on the fly for an extra skater Panthers broke out two-on-one and Alex Nikiforuk nailed the five-hole for a two goal cushion with less than two minutes left in the game.

Stars took their time-out and got the extra skater on but to no avail and Panthers had their fifth win in six starts.
