Panthers victorious in Super Final opener

The GMB Panthers got their European adventure off to a dream start with a 2-0 win over Danish opposition Odense Bulldogs.

The first period flew past with no penalties and no dangerous chances on goal. The netminders looked assured and the best chances for Nottingham invariably came with Williams on the ice.

The 2nd period, bar 3 penalties, was similar to the first. It started fast but by the end, it seemed both teams were resigned to seeing out the 2nd and finding the winner in the final period.

That was until the Panthers most dangerous looking line, featuring Brad Moran, Stephen Schultz and Jason Williams came up with the goods with 24 seconds left in play. Brad Moran buried a goal in the dying embers of the 2nd to ensure the Panthers went into the final period break with the confidence and lead.

The third was a whole new game with the Panthers coming out of the gates flying with the confidence of getting the opener.

Their opportunity came when they got a power play in the opening 5 minutes of the third. Constant pressure eventually led to a score as Moran grabbed his second on a Brown assist.

The Panthers resisted the temptation to go into their shell and see the game out and continued to look the more dangerous team throughout the game.

Odense pulled their netminder with just over 1 minute left in the period but it wasn't enough.
