Two wins out of two in Napoleon Cup - pics and report

The GMB Nottingham Panthers beat hosts Amiens 3-5 in their second game of the Napoleon Cup in France.

Saturday's game saw Miika Wiikman start in nets as Panthers took a commanding three goal lead. With Logan MacMillan screening the keeper, Andy Sertich fired home from point at 2.09 to open the scoring and the lead was doubled with a smart finish by Matt Carter in front of net in the 14th minute.

At 16.19 Robert Lachowicz made it 0-3 and a super save late in the session denied Amiens on the powerplay and Panthers ended the period three goals to the good.

The home side scored just 20 seconds into the middle period but Chris Lawrence picked out Robert Farmer at the backdoor on a powerplay at 24.40 and the three goal cushion was restored.

Just past the half-way mark a bounce off the backboards fell to Ollie Betteridge and he buried Panthers' fifth goal. Amiens came on strong late in the period but Wiikman made a string of saves to end his work for the night.

Dan Green took over in nets for Panthers at the start of the third period. Lachowicz hit the post before Amiens reduced the deficit in the 44th minute and they got to within two when a save ricocheted off a D-man's legs and in for Amiens' third goal with two-and-a-half minutes left.

But that's as close as they got.
