Nottingham Panthers
Match Report
Nottingham Panthers were beaten 4-1 by Manchester Storm in a pre-season game in Altrincham.
Ryan Bednard started between the pipes with Luca Sheldon as back-up, while Panthers were without Josh Tetlow and Ollie Betteridge who are in Denmark with Great Britain.
The start of the game saw limited clear-cut chances, but Didrik Henbrant and Hugo Roy went closest to scoring for the Panthers.
Bednard made a good save to deny Loren Ulett short-handed, but Storm scored twice near the end of the period to lead 2-0 at the first intermission.
Jake Durflinger's wrist-shot through traffic on the powerplay (17:35) was followed by a great finish from the left-circle by British youngster Noah Kaariainen (19:08).
Otto Nieminen just failed to get a stick of a feed to the backdoor by Henbrant as Panthers looked for a way back into the game and Sam Herr was denied from close-range.
Panthers made the perfect start to the third period as Henbrant fed Nieminen who fired a one-timer over the shoulder of Evan Weninger (40:24).
The hosts regained their two-goal advantage when Tyler Hinam skated down the left and cut inside at speed to fire the puck past Bednard (47:14).
Chase Harrison completed the scoring when he pounced first to a rebound from close-range (50:22).
