Match Report

Nottingham Panthers were beaten 5-2 at home by Dundee Stars in the Elite League on Saturday night.

Cooper Zech was the only absentee (lower body) as Ryan Bednard started between the pipes and Luca Sheldon was back-up.

Panthers score twice in eight seconds to lead at first intermission
Didrik Henbrant and Matt Alfaro had chances inside the opening 40 seconds before the game burst into life with three quick goals.

Alex Tonge deflected Domenico Alberga's shot past Bednard to give the visitors the lead (09:06), before Panthers hit back with two goals in eight seconds.

Reid Stefanson fired across Richard Sabol into the top corner (10:00) and Alfaro set-up Henbrant who went top-shelf from the slot on the very next shift (10:08).

Stars stun Panthers with four goals in second period
The Stars equalised when Ben O'Connor's shot through traffic from the blueline on the powerplay (21:36) and went ahead thanks to Kameron Kielly's close-range finish during a spell of four-on-four (26:19).

Bednard made a terrific safe to deny Jake Elmer on a breakway and at the other end, Stefanson's shot from the slot was saved by Sabol.

Drydn Dow extended Dundee's lead on the powerplay (37:55) and 53 seconds later, Keanu Yamamoto finished-off a quick break up the ice by the Stars (38:48).

No goals in third period as Dundee secure victory
Panthers pushed for a way back into the game and had a flurry of chances in the third period.

Jaakko Niskala was denied on a wraparound, Hugo Roy went close and Ollie Betteridge's shot pinged back off the crossbar.

But the Stars held firm and skated to an impressive two points on the road.
