Nottingham Panthers were beaten 4-2 by Guildford Flames in Elite League action on Wednesday night.

Ryan Bednard started between the pipes with Luca Sheldon as back-up. Defenceman Cooper Zech was the only absentee as he continued his recovery from a lower body injury.

Doherty and Henbrant score in first period
Panthers took the lead on the powerplay as Didrik Henbrant used his speed to go behind the net before feeding Tim Doherty to fire past Eamon McAdam from the slot (9:38).

Bednard made a good save to deny Kyle Locke short-handed and also turned away Daniel Tedesco's close-range effort with his pad.

Sam Herr played the puck off the left boards to send Henbrant clear and he made it 2-0 with a sweet finish across McAdam into the top right-hand corner (17:56).

Guildford score twice in second period
Flames closed the gap when Brett Ferguson fed Ryan Tait to score from close-range (24:05).

Henbrant and Otto Nieminen had chances in quick succession to score Nottingham's third and at the other end, Bednard made two huge close-range saves.

But with the period coming to a close, Travis Brown's shot was tipped past Bednard by Jack Jacome for Guildford's equaliser (39:11).

Flames net twice to secure two points
Herr and Roy had chances at the start of the third period, but Flames went ahead when Sam Talbot fed Ethan Strang at the backdoor (43:13).

Henbrant fed Davis Bunz as Panthers pushed for an equaliser, but the hosts wrapped the game up when Jacome found room in the slot and fired top-shelf (57:14).
