Match Report

Four goals in 100 seconds in the second period helped Nottingham Panthers to a 7-4 victory over Guildford Flames at the Motorpoint Arena.

The win for the Panthers moved them up to third in the Elite League standings, six points behind leaders Belfast Giants.

Ryan Bednard and Quinn Wichers remained out of the line-up. Jason Grande started between the pipes with Luca Sheldon as back-up.

Zech scores twice as Panthers lead at first intermission
Panthers went ahead on the powerplay through Cooper Zech's now trademark goal from the left-circle (08:01).

Matt Alvaro equalised for the visitors from close range just over two minutes later (10:11).

Moments after hitting the pipes, Zech scored his second following a great feed by Sam Herr (15:12)

Mitch Fossier fed Herr at the backdoor as Panthers opened up a 3-1 lead (21:44), before Jack Jacome reduced the arrears on the powerplay from the left-circle (24:44).

Panthers blitzed the Flames with four goals in 100 seconds, which started when Tim Doherty slid the puck out from behind the net for Didrik Henbrant to score from close range (34:31).

Doherty netted on the rebound (35:08), Kristoff Kontos converted a penalty-shot (35:41) and Reid Stefanson's deflected shot deceived Jake Kupsky (36:11).

Flames found some life in the third period as Jacome's shot went in off the bar for his second of the night (40:22) and Brett Ferguson netted a close-range rebound (48:42)

Grande made two superb close-range saves as the visitors pushed to reduce the arrears further.

Kontos, Herr and Otto Nieminen had chances on two late third-period powerplays and despite no more goals, it was another memorable night at the Motorpoint Arena.
