The Nottingham Panthers can today confirm the signing of forward Mike Hammond for the 2022/23 Premier Sports Elite League season.

Mike is no stranger to the Premier Sports Elite League having iced for the Glasgow Clan (2016/17), Manchester Storm (2017/19) and Coventry Blaze (2021 Elite Series), racking up a huge 246 points (89 goals & 157 assists) in 182 games across all competitions.

The forward was born in Brighton but is classed as a non-homegrown player under Premier Sports Elite League rules due to playing his junior hockey in Canada. He made his debut for Team GB after the 2017/18 season, representing them on 19 occasions so far and helped the national team win gold and qualify to play in the top level of international ice hockey.

Mike spent the best part of the last three seasons in continental Europe, playing for teams in Germany and Denmark, where he has continued to produce at over a point per game, helping his teams go on deep playoff runs in the process.

Head Coach Gary Graham spoke to panthers.co.uk about adding Mike to his roster for the 2022/23 season:

“Mike is an exciting addition for us as he’s a proven producer at every single level that he has played at.

“Throughout our talks what has impressed me the most is his competitive mindset; he wants to win.

“He’s played in the league before and he knows the fans and city of Nottingham because of that, he wants to play his part in making this organisation a consistent contender once again.”
