Nottingham Panthers moved to within a point of the top of the Elite League with a 3-0 victory on the road at Glasgow Clan.

Netminder Jason Grande secured his fourth shutout for the Panthers as he turned away all 36 shots he faced.

Panthers are a point behind new leaders Sheffield Steelers and level on 70 points with Belfast Giants who are just ahead as they have played two fewer games.

Otto Nieminen and Reid Stefanson both remained out of the line-up through injury.

Grande made a good early save to deny former Panther Joe Hazeldine as he continually frustrated the Clan throughout the night.

Panthers went ahead when Sam Herr buried a rebound on the doorstep on the powerplay in the closing stages of the first period (18:53).

Grande continued to put on a clinic, especially in the second period, including three huge stops in quick succession on Cole Ully, Darien Kielb and Mitchell Heard.

Quinn Wichers hit the pipes in the third period and Didrik Henbrant went close while at the other end, Grande continued to stand on his head.

Matt Alfaro saw his shot saved but he picked up the rebound behind the net and fed Tim Doherty who scored from close range (55:27).

Mitch Fossier put the icing on the cake with an empty-net goal with Landon Bow lifted for the extra outskater (57:50).
