The Nottingham Panthers have signed American netminder Mike Robinson for the 2023-24 season.

The 26-year-old had a stellar junior career and was selected straight out of high school in the third round of the 2015 NHL Draft by San Jose Sharks.

Robinson went on to play for five seasons with the University of New Hampshire in the NCAA - the top college league in North America.

Last year, he spent the majority of his time in the North American SPHL with Huntsville Havoc and also had a nine-game stint with ECHL side Adirondack Thunder.

His performances attracted the attention of American Hockey League outfit Utica Comets and Robinson received a call-up at the end of last season in May.

Panthers Head Coach, Jonathan Paredes, said: "Mike is a goalie that Kevin (Moore) knows very well.

"He has great size and moves well around the net. He's a former draft pick and is a goalie who has great potential.

"With the number of games in a season, we felt it was important to get another goalie that has the ability to give the team a chance to win on any night."

Robinson said: "Being out of collegue now and into the professional life, I have always thought about playing in Europe.

"I have heard great things about the Panthers and the league, so I think this is a good fit for me.

"I have worked with Kevin (Moore) ever since I was a kid. Having a good relationship with him - and him being with the Panthers - helped me make the decision.

"A new opportunity is exciting and I am looking forward to coming to Nottingham."
