The Nottingham Panthers have signed American defenceman Myles McGurty.

The 29-year-old arrives at the Motorpoint Arena with over 200 games experience in the East Coast Hockey League over the past four years.

McGurty turned professional in 2018-19 after playing for Dalhousie University in the USports league - the highest level of college ice hockey in Canada.

He split his time between Orlando Solar Bears and Rapid City Rush (both ECHL), but also had a stint with Erste Ligue side Fehérvári Titánok.

After returning to Rapid City in 2019-20, McGurty has spent the past two-and-a-half seasons with Worcester Railers.

Last season, he led the Railers in plus-minus and also logged the most minutes on the team.

Jonathan Paredes, Head Coach of The Nottingham Panthers, said: "Myles is the prototypical two-way defenceman.

"He moves very well and is extremely smart defensively. We felt for the last defenceman we wanted someone solid that can move the puck really well and is extremely strong defensively .

"Most importantly, he's a defenceman that is reliable on the ice. He will fit in well on our roster and we're excited to have him in Nottingham."

McGurty said: "After having conversations with both Omar (Pacha) and Jonathan (Paredes), it seemed like a good fit for both sides.

"I am really looking forward to it. Nottingham seems like a great place with an awesome set-up. Everything I hear about the league is that it's growing.

"Jonathan and Omar know what they want and they know what their goal is and that's exciting."

McGurty will wear #27 for the Panthers this season.

Tickets now on sale
Tickets for Nottingham Panthers' pre-season action at home to Sheffield Steelers and Coventry Blaze are now on sale.

Season ticket holders can take advantage of a superb discount with tickets costing only £10 (plus arena fees).

Panthers v Steelers - Sunday 10th September (4pm)
The Panthers begin home action in pre-season on Sunday 10th September (4pm) against Sheffield Steelers in the GM the GM Memorial Cup. Season ticket holders have until 6pm Wednesday 30th August to buy their seat with the exclusive discount after which their seat will be released for general sale the following day.

Non-season ticket seats are also now on general sale.

Panthers v Blaze - Saturday 16th September (7pm)
Coventry Blaze are the visitors on Saturday 16th September (7pm) in the Aladdin Cup. Season ticket holders have until 6pm Wednesday 6th September to buy their seat with the exclusive discount after which their seat will be released for general sale the following day.

Non-season ticket seats are also now on general sale.
