Captain Sam Herr says Nottingham Panthers won't rest on their laurels after moving up to second in the Elite League table.

Panthers comprehensively beat fourth-placed Cardiff Devils 5-1 on Wednesday night with Herr scoring twice including an outstanding finish on a short-handed breakaway.

Logan Neilson, Tim Doherty and Matt Alfaro were also on target, while netminder Jason Grande made 30 saves on another impressive night.

When asked about his thoughts on Panthers moving up to second, Herr said: "It's good. We always knew this season if we played our game, we were going to be towards the top.

"It took us a little bit to get going at the start of the year, but once we started rolling we knew we were right there with any of these guys.

"To be second place now, yes it's a confidence boost, but we are where we belong. We knew we should be up there.

"I don't think we're looking at second place as an accomplishment. The fact we are putting ourselves in a title race is what we're focused on."
