Nottingham Panthers were beaten 4-2 by Glasgow Clan at the Motorpoint Arena in the Elite League on Wednesday night.
Hugo Roy returned to the line-up to replace Didrik Henbrant who was rested as a precaution.
Jason Grande started between the pipes with British netminder Luca Sheldon as back-up.
Doherty equalises on the powerplay
The visitors took an early lead when Mitchell Heard scored a great solo goal as he eased through the Panthers defence (04:03) and Grande made a neat glove save to deny Cole Ully.
Panthers struggled to create clear-cut chances but equalised when Tim Doherty spun on the spot to score on the powerplay from the right-circle (07:28).
Stefanson scores but Clan hit back to equalise
Kristoff Kontos fed Reid Stefanson in the slot who fired past Lucas Brine to give Panthers the pefect start to the second period (20:52).
Panthers dominated much of the session and Brine made two stand-out close-range saves with his pads to deny Matt Alfaro.
Mitch Fossier scored on the powerplay but the goal was ruled-out for goaltender interference, despite it appearing that a Clan defenceman had pushed Otto Nieminen into Brine.
Clan equalised in the the closing stages of the period through Ully's one-timer from close-range (37:47).
Clan secure points with late winner
Doherty and Sam Herr had chances in quick succession as Panthers created the better chances in the third session.
Glasgow scored a late game-winner when Ully got the final touch to put the puck over the line after a massive goalmouth scramble (56:51).
Panthers lifted Grande for the extra skater and Cooper Zech hit the pipes with a long-range effort, before Deven Sideroff scored into the empty net with Grande lifted for the extra outskater (59:54).
