Ollie Betteridge, Simon Després, Austin Farley and Josh Tetlow missed out through injury, while defenceman Myles McGurty served the second game of his two-match suspension. Rok Stojanovic started between the pipes with Mike Robinson as back-up.
Lemay on target but Fife lead at first intermission
The hosts took the lead when Vitalijs Pavlovs converted from slot after a pass from Troy Lajeunesse (5:44), while Teemu Pulkkinen made it 2-0 when he reacted first to a loose puck (12:23).
Jake Ryczek set-up Mathieu Lemay for a beautiful one-timer from the left-circle to reduce the arrears on the powerplay (18:27).
Nieminen and Roy bring Panthers level in second period
Troy Lajeunesse scored Fife's third as he broke into the offensive zone, used the d-man as a screen and fired a beauty into the top corner (25:32).
But Panthers hit back within 87 seconds when Didrik Henbrant's shot was saved and Otto Nieminen was on the doorstep to pop home the rebound (26:59).
Hugo Roy scored a superb individual equaliser as he skated out from behind the net, cut left to right before firing low past Kevin Lindskoug (32:49), before Logan Neilson hit the pipes just as the period came to a close.
Lemay's second secures two points for Panthers
Panthers took the lead with an almost identical goal to their first of the night as Ryczek fed Lemay, who scored his 14th of the season with a bullet of a one-timer on the powerplay that Lindskoug fumbled into his net (41:46).
Alexander Lunsjö pinged the pipes on a three-on-two break as Panthers pushed for a fifth. Lindskoug was lifted for the extra out-skater but Panthers held on for a superb victory.
