BLOOR REFLECTS ON 'SURREAL' DEBUT
Netminder Matty Bloor reflects on his "surreal" debut which saw him lead The Nottingham Panthers to a 5-4 victory over Manchester Storm at the Motorpoint Arena yesterday.
The vital win secured the Panthers a place in the knockout stages of the Challenge Cup.
Bloor, who actually turned 18 yesterday, was called into action just past the halfway point of the first period following an injury to Alex Dubeau.
"It's definitely up there with one of the best birthdays I've had," said Bloor. "It was a great experience.
"When Alex came to the bench (for treatment), I got told to stretch and loosen up and I was pretty nervous.
"But once I got in and after a few minutes I felt a lot better.
"It was surreal. I don't think it's quite sunk in what I have just done out there, but it was a really good experience."
