ELITE LEAGUE: NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS 1-3 FIFE FLYERS
The Nottingham Panthers were beaten 3-1 by Fife Flyers at the Motorpoint Arena in the Premier Sports Elite League.
Alex Dubeau got the start between the pipes with Jack Berry as back-up, while Mike Hammond and Andrew Johnston were missing because of injury.
Panthers and Flyers level after first period
The Flyers went ahead when defenceman Christian Hausinger jumped into the play and roofed the puck into the top of the net (6:31).
Luke Ferrara went close short-handed before Matthew Myers and Craig Puffer combined to set-up Kelly Summers to fire through traffic on the powerplay from right point for his first goal of the season (15:06).
Dubeau produced a superb point-blank stop to deny former Panther Chris Lawrence from close range inside the final minute of the period.
Former Panther puts Fife ahead
Jeremy Welsh, Puffer and Myers went close in quick succession, before the visitors had a goal washed out for a high stick.
A broken play saw another former Panther, Zack Phillips, put Flyers ahead from close range (30:56) while at the other end, Stephen Anderson and Adam Brady were denied by Shane Owen.
Fife seal win with third goal
Dubeau produced two huge saves to stop Brayden Sherbinin and Janne Laakkonen on the same shift, but Fife stretched their advantage as Shawn Cameron converted a two-on-one break (56:18).
Panthers lifted Dubeau for the extra skater to go six-on-four on a late powerplay, but Owen and the Flyers stood firm to secure their first league win of the season.

Panthers are next in action at home a week on Saturday as Manchester Storm visit the Motorpoint Arena.
