ELITE LEAGUE: STARS 4-2 PANTHERS
The Nottingham Panthers were beaten 4-2 on-the-road at Dundee Stars in the Elite League.
Panthers were without Mike Caruso (injured reserve) and Andrew Johnston (day-to-day), but Mike Hammond returned to the line-up.
Alex Dubeau started between the pipes with Jack Berry serving as back-up netminder.
Levin opens account before Stars equalise
Elijiah Barriga slid the puck just wide after getting in behind the Panthers defence inside the first minute and at the other end, Matthew Myers went close and Luke Ferrara hit the crossbar.
Panthers went ahead as David Levin scored his first goal since joining the club, reacting first a loose puck to put away a rebound (11:53).
Barriga jumped onto a mistake in the Panthers defence to equalise as he fired the puck low past Dubeau (14:03).
Welsh edges Panthers ahead in second period
Jeremy Welsh scored six seconds into a second-period powerplay, sweeping home a rebound to put Panthers ahead for a second time (22:30).
Myers was denied twice in quick succession by great stops from Anton Svensson, who then produced an outstanding save from Levin's goalbound shot on the doorstep.
Mac Howlett hit the pipes and Dubeau had to be at his best to keep out Carter Folk's close-range effort as the hosts pushed for an equaliser.
Penalty trouble costs Panthers
Dubeau saved superbly from Philippe Sanche and Barriga shot just wide as the Stars continued to press.
Panthers lost their discipline and three powerplay goals in less than two-and-a-half minutes cost them dearly.
Parker set-up Barriga on the doorstep for his second of the night (47:38), before the Stars forward completed his hat-trick from close range (49:27).
Dubeau was ejected from the game and replaced by Berry - and on the resulting powerplay, a well-worked move saw Phillipe Sanche blast home Dundee's fourth (49:56).
Storm visit the Motorpoint Arena tomorrow
Panthers return to action tomorrow night as Manchester Storm visit the Motorpoint Arena (7pm face-off).
The two sides go head-to-head in a vital Premier Sports Challenge Cup match.
