FORWARD STEFANSON JOINS PANTHERS
Nottingham Panthers have signed Canadian forward Reid Stefanson for the 2024-25 season.
The 27-year-old joins the Panthers from Austrian side Vienna Capitals who play in the Central European league, the ICEHL.
Stefanson iced for UMass-Lowell in the NCAA and was named Rookie of the Year in his first season, before going on to have four successful years in the top university league.
The 6'0" forward, who can play at centre or on the wing, turned pro midway through the 2021-22 campaign when he joined ECHL side Maine Mariners.
In the 2022-23 season, he played with another new Panther, Tim Doherty, as he scored 47 points (22+25) for the Mariners and was the leading forward in the plus-minus column with +22.
Panthers Head Coach, Danny Stewart, said: "Reid is another player that we are getting at a great age and time in his career.
"He skates very well, can score and create, and plays such a smart 200-foot game. We liked his grit on top of his skill.
"He can play anywhere up-front. He not only adds to our quality up-front but also creates even more versatility in our line-up."
Stefanson said: "I am super excited to be a Panther and I can't wait to get over there and join the team.
"From talking with the staff and Tim Doherty who I played with, it seems there's a lot of really good signings.
"We are hoping to be a team that can be in contention for championships.
"It seems from everything I have heard and seen we have a really good roster to move forward with."
