The Nottingham Panthers forward Adam Johnson chatted to Panthers Radio after training today ahead of a busy weekend of league and cup action.

Long-time rivals Cardiff Devils are in town on Saturday as The Nottingham Panthers return to the Motorpoint Arena for Elite League action (7pm) in a match sponsored by J Nine Hair.

Sunday sees a second trip of the season to Altrincham for Challenge Cup action as Panthers come up against Manchester Storm.

Panthers go into the weekend on the back of a come-from-behind victory on-the-road at Guildford Flames, as a 2-0 deficit was turned into a 3-2 success after penalty shots.

"We had a rough day on Saturday and then fell behind on Sunday in Guildford, but we showed a lot of guts and hopefully this is a spark for us this weekend," said Johnson.

"Of course you want to win every game but it won't always go that way. Now we want to get a roll here."

Panthers won the shootout 2-1 thanks to successful attempts from Alexander Lunsjö and Mathieu Lemay, while Johnson hit the post with a really crafty backhand move.

"Over the past couple of years I have seen guys do that move in a shootout and it seems to work for them," said Johnson.

"I tried to get the goalie to bite and he did, which opened up the five-hole. I just put it too far left off the post.

"I enjoy penalty shots, it's fun. I haven't been as good in the past few years but hopefully it's something I can get back on track and it could help the team win a few games."
