KELSALL PREVIEWS WEEKEND WITH CHALLENGE CUP MEMORIES
🎟 SUNDAY: PANTHERS v STORM - BUY TICKETS 🎟
The Nottingham Panthers forward Jordan Kelsall speaks with Panthers TV - in association with Jeremias Chimney Systems - ahead of the weekend action.
The Panthers travel to Wales on Friday to face Cardiff Devils in the Elite League, before hosting Manchester Storm in the Challenge Cup on Sunday (4pm face-off).
Sunday's game - which is Kids for a Quid - has qualification on the line for the knockout stages of the cup.
The Challenge Cup is synonymous with the Panthers who have won it eight times, including five-in-a-row between 2009 and 2014.
Kelsall has fond memories as a supporter in his teenage years and was watching from the stands as Panthers beat Cardiff in the Sheffield Arena thanks to an overtime winner from Evan Mosey in the 2016 final.
"I remember the final in Sheffield that we won by a goal and I remember watching the team win the Challenge Cup a lot in that era," said Kelsall.
"It's something as a player that I want to do now."
Panthers start their weekend with a trip to Cardiff, a team they beat 5-2 on home ice on Sunday.
"When we play at home in front of our amazing fans you really do feel the energy," continued Kelsall.
"We got on Cardiff early, rolled through three periods and put in a good performance.
"I think the key to going to Cardiff is getting the puck behind them and being physical, like we did on Sunday.
"When we go down there we know what to expect, they are a great team at home."
