The Nottingham Panthers were beaten 5-1 at home by Manchester Storm in the Viaplay Elite League on Sunday afternoon.

Peyton Jones started between the pipes with Matty Bloor as back-up. Alex Dubeau and Tanner Sorenson were the healthy scratches, while Luke Ferrara missed out because of injury.

Scott Simmonds tipped-in a shot from Zac Herrmann to put the visitors ahead (3:56), before Panthers had a flurry of chances they were unable to convert.

Albin Lindgren was denied twice in quick succession while Jack Hopkins and Kelly Summers went close on the same shift.

Jones made a great save from Michael Korol's close-range shot and Dallas Ehrhardt's blast from the blueline, but was unsighted for Anthony DeLuca's wrist-shot from the right circle on an early second-period powerplay (25:58).

Chase Harrison scored Manchester's third when his shot deflected up and looped past Jones (30:40), before David Levin set-up Stephen Anderson who used his strength before beating Jeremy Brodeur from the slot (38:28).

Simmonds made it 4-1 when he redirected Jake Bricknell's shot for his second goal of the night, while Tyson Fawcett put the seal on a super night for the Storm converting top-shelf on his backhand on a breakaway (54:02).

Panthers have midweek home action this week with Dundee Stars visiting the Motorpoint Arena.
