The Nottingham Panthers were beaten 4-1 on-the-road at Sheffield Steelers in the Viaplay Elite League on Saturday night.

Alex Dubeau made the start in goal with Matty Bloor as back-up. Peyton Jones and Mathieu Gagnon were the healthy scratches, while Luke Ferrara missed out because of injury.

Dubeau made early saves from Brendan Connolly and Danny Kristo, before Matt Petgrave hit the post on the breakaway and Scott Allen put home the rebound (1:45).

Panthers had minimal chances in the first period, but Adam Brady and David Levin had shots saved by Matt Greenfield on the powerplay.

Dubeau made a string of top-class saves in the second period with the pick of them being to deny Brett Neumann.

Nottingham's best chances saw Jakub Izacky hit the pipes, while Niko Lahtinen forced a superb save by Greenfield from the slot after good work by Stephen Anderson.

The game burst into life with three goals in 33 seconds early in the third period as first Danny Kristo cut inside from left and fired into the top corner to score Sheffield's second (40:49).

Petgrave fed Allen at the backdoor (41:11) to make it three 22 seconds later, but Panthers broke down the ice from the face-off and pulled a goal back within 11 seconds as Tanner Sorenson set-up Jeremy Welsh who fired over the shoulder of Greenfield (41:22).

Sheffield put the game out of sight when Daniel Ciampini was left alone in the slot and he went backhand into the top corner (57:48).

The Panthers are straight back into action tomorrow with Manchester Storm visiting the Motorpoint Arena (4pm).
