Forward Matthew Myers says The Nottingham Panthers can use last weekend's results as a springboard for the rest of the season.

The Panthers were beaten 4-3 by Sheffield Steelers after overtime at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday, before skating to a 5-4 overtime victory on-the-road at Cardiff Devils on Sunday.

Myers said: "In a tough and difficult weekend, against two teams in the title race in Sheffield and Cardiff, we managed three points out of four.

"That's great but maybe there were a few little disappointments. We lost the Sheffield game when we were leading.

"Against Cardiff, we were leading with a couple of minutes to go and we gave up a goal to let them get to overtime.

"But they are three huge points and we're not confirmed in the playoffs yet, so every point we pick-up is huge."

Myers is part of the Great Britain squad who this weekend are involved in the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge being played on home ice in the UK.

GB begin their campaign tomorrow against Japan in Milton Keynes (7pm), before hosting Poland at the Skydome Arena in Coventry (7pm) on Saturday.

Britain’s final game takes place at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham against Romania on Sunday (4pm).

"It will be great to play on home ice in Nottingham," continued Myers. "The tournament is great preparation for the World Championship.

"It's important for us to spend time together as a team and the on-ice preparation will be vital for us."
