OUR GUIDE DOG BEAU MAKES A VISIT TO TRAINING
We got to meet our guide dog puppy Beau this week and, as you can see, he isn't a puppy anymore!
Beau - who was born on Thursday 11th May 2023 - was chosen to be our guide dog following a vote by supporters last year.
He is, of course, named after our former forward David-Alexandre Beauregard who played for the club between 2010 and 2013 and scored the game-winner in two successive playoff finals.
Beau paid a visit to the Motorpoint Arena after training this week and Ollie Betteridge, Josh Tetlow and Tyler Welsh were on hand to meet him.
The Golden Retriever is currently spending time with his puppy walker who is teaching him the skills that he will need as a future guide dog.
Puppy walkers teach dogs the manners and skills needed to fulfil the life of a working guide dog such as lead walking, as well as exposure to new environments including shops and doctors.
They teach all the basics of dog handling which will help them transition into a well-rounded working guide dog, enabling those with sight loss the freedom and independence to live the life they choose.
The Panthers would like to thank the Guide Dogs and Beau's puppy walker for bringing him to meet us.
