The next few days are one of the busiest in any ice hockey season as players start arriving ahead of the new campaign.

The Nottingham Panthers officially get their training camp under way on Monday as preparations begin for next Saturday’s pre-season encounter with Sheffield Steelers.

The first player in from out of town is American forward Craig Puffer, who arrived in Nottingham late last night.

"Its been a whirlwind few days but it’s always special when you arrive in town for the first time at your new club,” said Puffer.

“I've met with Omar and Gary already and loved visiting the rink today. It looks a great building and I can't wait to play in it.

"I am looking forward to taking a look around Nottingham today and getting to know the city.

"I am just counting down the days until we can step onto the ice for the first time in-front of our fans next week.

“I’ve been told about the rivalry with the Steelers so what a way to start. I just can’t wait to get going.”

Panthers’ opening home game of pre-season against the old enemy will be for the GM the GM Memorial Trophy and takes place on Saturday 27th August (7pm).

Cardiff Devils are up next in the Aladdin Cup on Saturday 3rd September (7pm), before the Elite League action gets under way in Nottingham with Guildford Flames the visitors on Saturday 10th September (7pm).
