REPORT: FLAMES 3-4 PANTHERS
Niko Lahtinen scored the sudden-death penalty-shot winner as Nottingham Panthers came from behind to win 4-3 on-the-road at Guildford Flames in the Viaplay Elite League.
Panthers were behind with under two minutes to go but Adam Brady's late goal tied the game up before the drama in the penalty shootout.
Alex Dubeau started between the pipes with Peyton Jones as back-up, while defenceman Albin Lindgren and forwards Luke Ferrara and Jeremy Welsh were missing from the line-up.
Daniel Tedesco fired across Dubeau to put the hosts ahead (4:26), while Levi Cable and Robert Lachowicz went close in the first period for the Flames.
JC Brassard hit the pipes for the Panthers before Jakub Izacky fed Hammond in front to score the equaliser (15:32) as the two sides were level at the first intermission.
Kelly Summers and Brassard combined to set-up Tanner Sorenson who skated down the right and fired a shot into the top corner to put Nottingham ahead (21:05).
Tedesco scored from the right circle to bring Flames level (23:49), before Jordan Kelsall and Fabrizio Ricci went close for the Panthers.
A breakdown in defence saw Sam Marklund feed Brett Ferguson to put Guildford into a 3-2 lead (49:20).
Panthers lifted Dubeau for the extra skater and the six-on-five ploy worked as Brady spun 180 to fire past Eamon McAdam (58:03).
Guildford hit the post in overtime while Izacky and Sorenson had chances for Nottingham, but with the teams not separated the game went to a shootout.
Dubeau made four saves in the shootout while Brady and David Levin converted for the Panthers, before Lahtinen's winning shot in sudden-death.
