SAM HERR NAMED CAPTAIN FOR 2024-25 SEASON

Sam Herr has been named as Nottingham Panthers captain for the 2024-25 season, with Ollie Betteridge, Hugo Roy and Josh Tetlow appointed alternate captains.

It's the second time that Herr will undertake the role after being captain in the pandemic-hit 2019-20 season.

Herr said: "It's a huge honour and huge to have the trust from the coaches, management and this whole organisation.

"It's a big responsibility. There is a lot of love around this organisation and you have to lead it in the right way.

"This club has had some great leaders. When I was here last time, even guys who weren't wearing letters were big leaders for the team.

"I was able to learn from them and from people who had been around the club for longer than I had.

"I'm excited to get things going and get to know the guys more in the coming days."

Panthers start their pre-season campaign on Saturday as UQTR visit the Motorpoint Arena (7pm).

The team are one of the powerhouses of the top Canadian university league, Usports, with its current alumni including players such as Christophe Boivin and Mathieu Lemay.
