Rick Strachan has returned to The Nottingham Panthers as Assistant Coach.

Strachan's association with the club goes back to the 1990-91 as a player and and in 2010-11 he was appointed Assistant Coach to Corey Neilson.

The duo then oversaw the most successful period in Panthers' history, including the Grand Slam season of 2012-13.

He also had a spell as Head Coach, taking over from Rich Chernomaz midway through the 2018-19 campaign.

Strachan is a former Great Britain international and led the national side as Assistant Coach between 2002 and 2004 and Head Coach from 2004 to 2006.

"I've missed the game and the opportunity to work with Corey again is something I really want to do," said Strachan.

"We have a great working relationship. We know we have work to do but I think we can make this team succcessful.

"Like Corey, I have been watching Panthers from afar since I left and the chance to work for the club again was too good an opportunity to turn down."

Neilson said: "As soon as I took the job on again I knew I wanted Rick working alongside me.

"We work so well together and bounce off each other well. His knowledge is outstanding and he was huge part of this club's success for many years.

"His passion and energy will help us and I am looking forward to working with him again."

Strachan's first game back behind the bench with Neilson is on Friday as Fife Flyers visit the Motorpoint Arena.
