The Nottingham Panthers would like to say thank you and wish forward Mathieu Lemay the best of luck for the future after he announced his retirement from ice hockey.
Lemay has taken early ice hockey retirement to go into the jewellery business back home in North America.
The 29-year-old joined the Panthers last summer and scored 23 goals and added 13 assists for 36 points in the Elite League last season.
Nine of those goals came on the powerplay with many of them being a cannon of a shot from the left-circle which became his trademark finish.
He scored two goals in a game on five occasions and netted a hat-trick in a thrilling 7-6 victory on the road at Glasgow Clan.
Lemay said: "I'd like to thank the Panthers organisation and amazing fanbase for their support last season.
"The backing we received from the supporters was truly amazing and I will never forget it for the rest of my life."
The Ontario-born winger began his professional career in the central Europe-based Alps Hockey League in 2019-20 with Italian side Sterzing/Vipiteno where he scored a staggering 85 points in 44 matches, contributing 35 goals and 50 assists.
He then spent three seasons in the highly-rated DEL2 with Eispiraten Crimmitschau, scoring 61 goals and 82 assists for 143 points in 126 matches.
In season 2020-21, he led the German side in goals (31), assists (37) and points (68) before following-up with two more free-scoring campaigns.
Everyone at the Panthers would like to thank Mathieu for his time with the Panthers and wish him all the best of luck in his new career outside of hockey.
The best-value way to watch the Panthers is with a season ticket - which offers superb value for money - and will once again cover 26 home Elite League games next season. The 27th home Elite League game not on the season ticket will once again be a heavily discounted midweek game following the successful sold-out £9 game against Guildford in March.
Meanwhile, new from next season, the all-in season will cover every single Panthers home game. This is exceptional value for money and includes all 27 Elite League regular-season games, all five Challenge Cup home group games as well any subsequent home ties in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, a potential home playoff quarter-final and the three home pre-season matches played by the Panthers.
The season ticket application window will close to all fans on Sunday 30th June 2024.
