The Hammond family would like to thank supporters for their kind words and thoughts in the Book of Condolence for Mike.

Mike Hammond, who played for the Panthers last season, passed away in a car accident in Canada back in July.

At the start of this season, a Book of Condolence was signed by hundreds of supporters - all with their own special memory of Mike.

He was a very popular and experienced Elite League player, also icing for Braehead Clan, Manchester Storm and Coventry Blaze.

Mike made 27 appearances for Great Britain, scoring eight goals and contributing nine assists, as part of a glittering career with many highlights.

He memorably scored for GB against the USA in 2019, as well as in the come-from-behind 4-3 overtime victory against France to secure top-flight status.

Hammond’s last game saw him score and add two assists in GB’s 5-3 victory over Italy at the Motorpoint Arena in May to secure promotion back to the top level of the World Championship.

His Mum, Janice, said: "The family would like to thank the Panthers and their supporters for the Book of Condolence for Mike.

"It was very emotional reading all the comments and there were so many lovely thoughts from so many people.

"We'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and thank you again for the kind words about Mike."
