The Nottingham Panthers were beaten 7-4 by Sheffield Steelers in the third v fourth-placed game at playoff finals weekend.

Matty Bloor was given the start in goal and was replaced late-on by Luca Sheldon, while Panthers iced 19-year-old British forward Zaine McKenzie.

McKenzie plays for NIHL side Milton Keynes Lightning, but has trained with the Panthers in the latter part of the season.

Matthew Myers scored twice for the Panthers while Stephen Anderson was also on target, as was Jack Hopkins who neatly batted the puck out of the air for the fourth goal.

Head Coach Corey Neilson, in his final game before taking up a coaching role in Europe, was given a standing ovation as he departed the ice.

It was also a final domestic game for Sheffield forwards Jonathan Phillips and Brendan Connolly. The Panthers would like to congratulate both on their fantastic careers.

In tonight's Grand Final, Belfast Giants completed the Grand Slam with a 4-1 victory over Cardiff Devils.
