Corey Neilson joined The Nottingham Panthers at the start of the 2006/07 season and would remain at the organisation until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
He took over as Head Coach, combined with his duties as one of the EIHL's premier defencemen, from 2008 and went behind the bench full time in the 2012/13 season when a lower body injury cut short his playing career.
During his tenure at the helm Nottingham won:
- 6x Challenge Cups (2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13, 2013/14, 2015,16)
- 4x Playoff Trophies (2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13, 2015/16)
- 1x League Championship (2012/13)
- 1x Continental Cup (2016/17)
After leading the Panthers to the Grand Slam in 2012/13 his #77 was retired at the end of the season and will never be worn by anyone who dons the black & gold of the Panthers ever again.
Fully focused behind the bench he then led Nottingham to the 2016/17 Continental Cup Finals where they became, and still remain, the only British team to win a major domestic trophy on the continent before taking the Panthers to the Quarter-Finals of the Champions Hockey League, the furthest any team from the UK has gotten in the competition.
