The former Nottingham Panthers netminder Niklas Sundberg has been nominated as one of the top 50 people within tech in Sweden.

The 43-year-old played for the Panthers in 2003-04 and famously backstopped the club to a two-legged Challenge Cup final victory over Sheffield Steelers.

The trophy success against the arch-rivals was a memorable moment in Panthers' history, with Kim Ahlroos scoring the overtime winner in the Sheffield Arena in the second leg.

Sundberg had joined the Panthers in the summer of 2003 just a season after turning professional - and then decided to take a job away from the sport at the end of the trophy-winning campaign.

"I am very pleased to see that the issue regarding sustainable IT and sustainable technology is being recognised," said Sundberg.

"This important topic is getting the attention that it needs but, most importantly, it's great to see technology professionals around the world taking action to build sustainable digital infrastructure for future generations to come.

"Thank you and congratulations to all the nominees."

Congratulatons to Sunny from everyone at the Panthers. Your place in the club's history will never be forgotten.
